Drug and Alcohol DetoxBlair Patterson2025-10-15T18:42:53-07:00 Washington Detox Center Lakeside-Milam is an accredited Seattle detox center. Our two-pronged approach combines drug and alcohol detox and outpatient programming. Withdrawal management is individualized for each patient and may last up to seven days in our Kirkland, Washington detox center. Then, they transition into the appropriate level of step-down care. The result is a solid foundation for lifelong recovery. Alcohol Detox Alcohol use disorder is the medical term for alcoholism. Developing a dependency on alcohol may happen quickly, and quitting cold turkey can be life-threatening. Symptoms like grand mal convulsions (seizures), hallucinations, and extreme fluctuations in body temperature, blood pressure, and pulse rate are just a few of the consequences of unsupervised alcohol cessation. To avoid delirium tremens (the DTs), certain steps must be taken. Beginning at our Washington detox center, Lakeside-Milam provides a safe and comfortable path to recovery for those dependent on alcohol. Our alcohol detox program reduces withdrawal symptoms, prevents the complications associated with quitting, and provides additional therapies to reinforce one’s sobriety. Can’t cut down or stop drinking? Ever wondered where the line is between casual drinking and something more serious? The Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) is one of the most widely used tools to spot risky drinking habits. This simple 10-question self-test doesn’t diagnose alcoholism, but it does shine a light on whether your drinking patterns might be harmful or hazardous—helping you see not just how much you drink, but how it’s affecting your life. Take the Quiz Opioid and Opiate Detox Opiates and opioids are two names for drugs that bind with the body’s opioid receptors. One is naturally occurring, while the other is synthesized in a lab. Today, Washington’s opioid epidemic has necessitated the need for affordable, widely available addiction treatment services. Our Seattle drug detox provides on-demand, one-on-one treatment for people reliant on opioids and opiates. We provide detox for those addicted to: Heroin Hydrocodone (Vicodin) Oxycodone (Percocet and Oxycontin) Fentanyl (Ultiva, Sublimaze, Duragesic) Carfentanyl (Wildnil) Oxymorphone (Opana) Dextromethorphan (NyQuil and Robitussin) Morphine Codeine Opium Unfortunately, quitting these drugs can be life-threatening. Opioid and opiate withdrawal both cause issues with one’s pulse rate, blood pressure, body temperature, and gastrointestinal tract. Stopping may also trigger restlessness, insomnia, tremors, muscle aches, and other uncomfortable issues. Detox alleviates these symptoms and prevents serious complications like dehydration, hypernatremia, and heart failure. With proper oversight, opioid withdrawal can be made easier. Our Washington detox center provides medically supervised drug detox to clients in the early stages of opiate and opioid cessation. We offer structure, accountability, and symptom reduction services that empower clients to get (and stay) sober. Transition to Outpatient Treatment Each client begins their treatment journey through a five-day inpatient detox program at our Kirkland, Washington location. To qualify, participants must be willing to stabilize on Suboxone (if required), have no medical history of seizures or delirium tremens, and be free of major medical comorbidities. Each person’s needs are different, which means their lengths of stay may vary. After up to seven days of supervised detox in our Washington detox center, we will help the client step down to residential treatment or our partial hospitalization program prior to transitioning to one of two outpatient treatment programs. Lakeside-Milam’s Partial Hospitalization Program is recommended for Seattle drug detox clients who need a higher level of care. This day program takes place for four and a half hours each day, five days per week, while living on our property in our safe, supportive sober housing. Our Intensive Outpatient Program is available to clients who have progressed significantly and require more flexibility. Counseling, education, and medication management are provided on a regular schedule, ensuring that each person receives the attention they need. To qualify for this program, clients must live in stable, supportive homes. Outpatient offerings include group meetings, individual counseling, family involvement, 12-Step programming, meditation, relapse prevention, and other early recovery services. These can be completed at any of our Washington locations. Once this phase of treatment has concluded, we connect each person with community resources for continued recovery.
